Carpal tunnel syndrome, Bell's palsy, sciatica, diabetic neuropathy, numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, foot drop, paralysis, vertigo and BPPV, facial paralysis, stroke rehabilitation.
Nerve problems are the area most often left untreated in Pakistan. People are told to wait, or they are given painkillers, and the weakness sets in while they wait. Physiotherapy works best on nerve problems when it starts early.
How it is treated here
Treatment depends entirely on which nerve is involved and how long it has been affected, so it starts with an assessment rather than a plan bought off a shelf.
Dr. Zahra uses manual therapy, graded exercise therapy, electrotherapy, ultrasound and TENS. For stroke and facial palsy, most of the work is retraining movement, which means a programme you carry out daily at home with regular review rather than something that only happens in the clinic.
When to come in
Come in early. For facial palsy, for a stroke, or for numbness that is spreading or getting worse, early treatment changes the outcome more than almost anything else.
If you have sudden weakness on one side, a drooping face, or you cannot speak clearly, that is an emergency. Go to a hospital first, then come for rehabilitation.
